Nature and geometry as sources of inspiration

We could start recounting the story of Martinelli Luce by saying that it was born in 1950, in a period buoyant with creative and constructive ferment. It was the post-war period; one where Italian homes lacked many objects and it was almost a mission for the designers of the time to create and manufacture aesthetically pleasing and functional objects. In this context, Elio Martinelli succeeded in distinguishing himself for his design approach that united the respect for rigorous and essential geometric forms with the respect for nature, from which he drew inspiration for surprisingly original lines and forms.

Since the very inception of Martinelli Luce, we have always been inspired by a foundational few values

Through innovation, we tell about the passion for our work that perforce passes through the drive of change, of constantly demanding more from ourselves, of seeing through always different angles what to others seems like a fixed point, a steadfast security.

We believe in the essential, which for us means no frills or useless superfluity. The lines we design that shape and outline our products are minimal and maximum at the same time. It is not just a question of design: it is design concept and production philosophy.

We want to stimulate new points of view, inspiring, through our products, people’s curiosity and creativity, whether they be engineers, architects, dealers or private individuals. Have them see with new eyes what daily appears as ordinary.

International awards meet a unique style

For a brand to be counted among those that have made the history of design, it must possess some special elements. A unique and unquestionable signature trait; that particular style that not only makes people happy and impassions them, but that also brings them to visit museums throughout the world. Products such as the Cobra lamp by Elio Martinelli or Ruspa and Pipistrello by Gae Aulenti have been or are today present in world-renowned museums such as, for example, New York’s MoMa and the Triennale di Milano. Another element is the number of recognitions obtained in the course of the years, assigned by authoritative international organizations.

Awards
